The results of GfK Survey 2 2026 were released today. Overall, these show a stable picture, with MediaWorks stations collectively attracting 53.9% of overall listening share across the country, against NZME’s 36.1%. This margin of almost 18% points is effectively unchanged on Survey 1 2026.
From a total commercial audience of 3.43 million, MediaWorks reaches 2.45 million New Zealanders each week, NZME 1.86 million. Among adults aged 25-54, MediaWorks holds a dominant share of 58.7% to NZME’s 30.9%.
The Breeze remains New Zealand’s #1 music station, reaching almost 600,000 listeners a week for a 9.2% share. Together with Breeze Classic, launched last November, the Breeze family now commands a 15.3% share of national listening, more than any other brand.
MediaWorks stations make up six of the country’s eight biggest stations, with The Rock posting the strongest national gain, moving up to 8.4% overall. The Sound was the only major brand to gain in every age group measured. Other gains for MediaWorks include: More FM, The Edge and Channel X.
Overall, NZ radio is still dominated by Newstalk ZB, with a share of 14.6%, driven mostly by the 45+ age group.
