With almost all podcasts fusing\ncoverage of the COVID-19 pandemic with their regular topics, it\u2019s hard to\ndissect what you should be listening to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lockdowns around the globe are\nhaving a huge effect on listening figures too, with podcast giant Acast\nreporting a 7% increase in listens globally over the weekend of March 21-22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since January 22, podcast episodes that reference \u2018coronavirus\u2019 or \u2018COVID-19\u2019 have been downloaded more than 27.5 million times worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s incredibly heartening to see\npodcasters and listeners adapting to these new challenges. Podcasting is a\ngreat way to stay informed or distracted during troubling times.\u201d said Acast\u2019s\nSVP of content, Susie Warhurst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here are some of the best podcasts out there if you want to stay up to date with the latest on the crisis in Australia (or for a bit of coronavirus-related entertainment):

Coronacast<\/em> \u2013 ABC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hailed as the premier source of\ncoronavirus information for Australian\u2019s, the ABC\u2019s Coronacast<\/em> is\nhosted by Tegan Taylor and Dr Norman Swan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swan also hosts The Health Report on\nRadio National, and has proved to be one of the best communicators about the\nissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The podcast has been published every\nweekday since it launched on March 4, addressing issues such as how to wash\nyour hands properly, what Australia can learn from other countries, the nature\nof the virus, where COVID-19 came from, and even tips on how to convince\nfriends to take the corona crisis seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swan is joined by a host of guests\nand also answers questions from listeners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With his live stand-up career on\nhold for now, comedian Nazeem Hussain has just launched his new podcast Survivor\u2019s\nGuide To Coronavirus.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admitting he has no idea what to do\nfor a world in crisis, Hussain is drawing on people even less qualified than\nhim, to provide a lighter view on the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\u2019s teamed up with Luke\nMcGregor, Julia Morris, Karl Chandler, Collingwood\u2019s Dane Swan, Scott Pape (The\nBarefoot Investor), Urzila Carlsson, Joel Creasey and even Melbourne Lord Major\nSally Capp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how informative this\npodcast will be but I can promise it will be funny and a great way to fill 15\nminutes of your day in isolation. The other 23 hours and 45 minutes is up to\nyou,\u201d said Hussain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunny Side Up! <\/em>sees London chat each day to someone around the world whose\nhad a recent positive experience in their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHopefully it will inspire us all to\nbe a little kinder, reach out to our neighbour, and survive this craziness in\none piece,\u201d said London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not an Australian podcast, but one\nof the best looks at incremental developments with the public radio frame of\nmind from NPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pod covers all dimensions\nof the story from science to economics and politics as well as society and\nculture, and is Hosted by Kelly McEvers from Embedded.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It publishes each weekday, and\nincludes tories and interviews from NPR\u2019s Science, International,\nNational, Business and Washington reporting teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a good look into how the US is\nhandling the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While not a coronavirus podcast\nspecifically, Rosie Waterland\u2019s Just The Gist<\/em> was named by the Hit\nNetwork as the top most-bingeworthy podcast on SCA\u2019s PodcastOne Australia\nplatform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekly-ish podcast sees comedian\nWaterland joined by different guests to dive into the \u2018need to know\u2019 about a\ngiven topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest episode sees her dive\ninto her experience having the flu in the past two weeks and worrying about\nhaving COVID-19, before diving into how the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918 (and\nwhy it wasn\u2019t really Spanish).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Australian PM Scott Morrison\nseemingly taking cues from NZ leader Jacinda Ardern, it\u2019s useful to keep track\non how our neighbours are dealing with COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Zealand has also just introduced\nLevel Four social restrictions, and this podcast dives into how they work, and\nwhat Australia might expect if we implement similar measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
