If you wish to make yourself understood, use\nas few words as necessary.&nbsp; <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, we have developed the notion that the\nquantity of words that we choose to express an idea is proportional to the\neffectiveness of message. Simply said, more words lead to better understanding.\nNothing could be farther from the truth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our ability to process verbal information is limited. Who\namong us has not found our mind wandering during a lecture or in a meeting? Our\nability to comprehend spoken information is even more strained when we are also\noccupied with other activities such as driving a car or working at the office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful radio broadcasters have long known that shorter\nslogans are better than long ones. Shorter promos are also better than long\nones. Fewer words give the listener a better chance to understand and retain\nwhat you are trying to say. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some basic guidelines: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use fewer words and shorter sentences. <\/li><li>In most cases, a 20 second promo is more\neffective than a 30 second promo.<\/li><li>When trying to sell something, limit yourself to\none big idea.<\/li><li>Repetition of the same idea in the same way\ncauses listener fatigue.<\/li><li>Edit, edit, edit! Edit your copy like a butcher\ntrims a piece of meat.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Enough said? In keeping with these rules, I will end here.
