{"id":5794,"date":"2023-08-31T15:33:34","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T05:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bprworld.com\/?p=5794"},"modified":"2023-08-31T15:33:34","modified_gmt":"2023-08-31T05:33:34","slug":"gfk-survey-5-results-released-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bprworld.com\/de\/news\/gfk-survey-5-results-released-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"GFK Survey 5 Results Released This Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week in Australia we saw the release of the Gfk Radio 360 Metro Survey 5 results, which have showed some interesting developments for many stations across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The GfK Radio Ratings is the official radio audience measurement service of Australia, covering its five major cities; Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and the regional markets of Newcastle, Canberra and Gold Coast also; providing subscribers with an understanding of who listens, as well as when and where they listen.<\/p>\n<p>This round of the survey was conducted by GfK for Commercial Radio Australia between Sun May 21 to Sat Jun 24 &amp; Sun Jul 9 to Sat Aug 12, 2023, during the football season and the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup soccer tournament.<\/p>\n<p>For an extensive set of data on the results you can follow the link at the end of this article, but here are some highlights.<\/p>\n<h4>Sydney<\/h4>\n<p>#1 FM: <strong>KIIS 106.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 AM: <strong>2GB 873<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 Cume: <strong>smoothfm 95.3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 DAB+: <strong>CADA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>2GB down but still on top, while smoothfm records top cume overall.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After the back and forth between <strong>KIIS FM<\/strong> and <strong>2GB<\/strong> throughout this year, the Nine talk station has held the top spot after claiming it back in the last survey. After being the biggest lifter of last survey \u2013 up 2.1 points \u2013 <strong>2GB<\/strong> has dropped 2.7 points in survey five for a share of 11.6%. In Breakfast, <strong>Ben Fordham<\/strong> has also held his Sydney radio ratings crown, albeit with a drop that mirrors the wider station, down 3.5 points for a total share of 14.6%.<\/p>\n<p>Staying solid as #1 FM instead of #1 overall, ARN\u2019s <strong>KIIS<\/strong> has dipped two points for a 10% share. In breakfast, <strong>Kyle and Jackie O<\/strong> are down 3.2 points for a 13.9% share. In Drive, <strong>Will and Woody<\/strong> are down 0.8 points, topping the daypart with 10.8. <strong>KIIS FM<\/strong> remains the top station in the 10-17, 18-24, 25-39, and 40-54 demographics.<\/p>\n<p>Nova\u2019s <strong>smoothfm<\/strong> remains #3 in the market after dipping 1.4 points. However, a dip of only 6,000 in cume (as opposed to -73,000 from KIIS) sees the station come in on top overall in cume, with a figure of 1,352,000, officially making it Australia\u2019s most listened to radio station.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WSFM<\/strong> remains the #4 station in Sydney, up 0.7 points for a share of 8.3. In breakfast, <strong>Jonesy and Amanda<\/strong> have lifted 1.1 points, producing a share of 8.8% as they remain the #3 program in the daypart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nova<\/strong> remains at #5 after gaining 0.2 points. The breakfast lineup of <strong>Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie<\/strong> was up 0.6 points for a 6.9% share, while the Drive lineup of Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel was down 1.1 points for an 8.3% share.<\/p>\n<p>In the DAB, <strong>CADA<\/strong> is still on top, moving a further 6,000 to a total of 153,000 audience.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Melbourne<\/h4>\n<p>#1 FM: <strong>smoothfm 91.5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 AM: <strong>3AW 693<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 Cume: <strong>FOX 101.9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 DAB+: <strong>GOLD 80s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>3AW breakfast flies, smoothfm topples Gold, Fox FM leads in cume audience and breakfast share with #1 breakfast show.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>smoothfm 91.5 <\/strong>and<strong> FOX 101.9 <\/strong>are the clear winners in Melbourne, while Talk station <strong>3AW<\/strong> powers ahead in the AM market, up 2.1, which is interesting when compared to 2GB\u2019s decline in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>smoothfm 91.5<\/strong>, up 0.3, consistency continues to be a big attraction for advertisers here at the new #1 FM station in the market. A 10+ share of 9.9% is the best this year and the best since 2019. <strong>Mike Perso<\/strong> remains a strong breakfast performer, climbing ahead of former champ <strong>Gold 104.3<\/strong> and is now sitting just 0.5 behind new leader <strong>Fox<\/strong> breakfast. The biggest demo growth was 40-54 which was up 1.0 to 8.9%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Brisbane<\/h4>\n<p>#1 FM: <strong>NOVA 106.9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 AM: <strong>4BH 1116<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 Cume: <strong>NOVA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 DAB+: <strong>NOVA 90s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Nova top station, B105 top breakfast, KIIS 97.3 lifts from fifth to third.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It can be clearly seen that <strong>NOVA<\/strong> has dominated the airwaves in Brisbane for this round, while still having dipped 0.2 for a share of 11.6%. The breakfast team of <strong>Ash, Luttsy &amp; Susie O\u2019Neill<\/strong> have stayed at #2 breakfast show after a dip of 0.4 points, with a share of 12.1%. <strong>Nova<\/strong> continues to dominate the drive slot despite a drop of 0.6 points, with the national team of <strong>Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel<\/strong> finishing with 13.5%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4BH<\/strong> is down 0.5 points for a 10+ share of 9.3%. In this survey, breakfast with <strong>Bob Gallagher<\/strong> is also down 0.5 points for a 7.4% share. The station has well and truly held on to its top spot in the 65+ demo, where it has a 27.0% share.<\/p>\n<p>With less than a point separating the top 4 stations, this could suggest that Brisbane is Australia\u2019s most competitive market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Adelaide<\/h4>\n<p>#1 FM: <strong>MIX<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 AM: <strong>FIVEaa 1395<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 Cume: <strong>MIX<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 DAB+: <strong>SMOOTH FM ADELAIDE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Mix 102.3 takes Triple M\u2019s crown, Nova 91.9 stays in third.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mix 102.3<\/strong> has taken the crown as the #1 station in Adelaide, rising 0.7 points to take an 12.6% share. The <strong>Ali Clarke Breakfast Show<\/strong> increased by 2.1 points for an 11.2% share. The station\u2019s strongest time slot in this survey is the weekend slot, with a 12.1% share. The station increased by 3.4 points in the 55-64 demo. <strong>Mix 102.3<\/strong> saw a 2.7-point decrease in the 18-24 demo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nova<\/strong> started 2023 in the second spot but has maintained its position in third in this survey. The network\u2019s biggest rise in the dayparts was in the Evening slot with 1.4 points for a 9.3% share. <strong>Ricki Lee, Tim &amp; Joel<\/strong> in Adelaide\u2019s drive spot has risen 0.9 points with a 14.1% share. <strong>Nova<\/strong> still continues to dominate in the 18-24 demos, despite dropping 0.4 points for a 22% share and has dropped 1.2 points in 40-54 for an 11.2% share.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FIVEaa<\/strong> has recorded an increase of 0.2 points and a total share of 9.2%. In the breakfast slot, <strong>David and Will<\/strong> have fallen 0.4 points for a total share of 11.5%. The network has kept its spot as the #2 commercial breakfast show in Adelaide. In drive, <strong>Rowey and Timmy G<\/strong> have an 1.5 point increase, their total share now being 9.6%. The station fell to second in the 65+ demo with 17.9%, despite rising 3.2 points.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Perth<\/h4>\n<p>#1 FM: <strong>NOVA 93.7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 AM: <strong>6PR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 Cume: <strong>NOVA 937<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#1 DAB+:\u00a0 <strong>SMOOTH FM PERTH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Nova 93.7 continues their dominance, while Mix 94.5 stays third, despite dropping 1.1 points.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nova 93.7\u2019s<\/strong> breakfast show is Australia\u2019s highest rating metropolitan breakfast show with 22.5% of the market, while the station as a whole maintains its spot at the top, with a 1.1 point increase from the 4th survey of 2023. <strong>Nathan, Nat &amp; Shaun<\/strong> continue to top the Perth breakfast slot with a 22.5% share, increasing 1.7 points from the fourth survey making it Australia\u2019s highest rating metropolitan breakfast show.<\/p>\n<p>Across demographics, <strong>Nova<\/strong> has kept the #1 share in the 10-17, 18-24, 25-39 and 40-54 demos. The station rose 1.2 points in the 10-17 demographic but dropped 3.4 points in 25-39.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Programming <strong>Nova 93.7<\/strong> Perth <strong>David McClung<\/strong> said: \u201cI couldn\u2019t be prouder of the team at Nova 93.7 today.
